Portfolio
As a keen gardener, my favourite subjects are gardens, plants, and nature-filled landscapes, especially with strong rhythms of light and shade. My painterly style is achieved primarily with acryla-gouache, sometimes with added pencil, crayon and pastel. I also work digitally in layers to mimic the effect of risograph.
Dummy Book - Blackberry Season
Blackberry Season is a picturebook about grief and healing through nature. The little girl loses her mother, but discovers that through the life cycle of the garden, memories of the people we love can be kept alive.
The illustration is made with three colours in digital layers, reproducing risograph printing, with additional loose washes of colour on the final print.
Shortlisted for the dPictus Unpublished Pciturebook Showcase, 2023.
Dummy Book - The Need Tree
A tree in the forest realises one day that the creatures who live amongst her are not saying clearly what they need - and she starts doing something to change that!
The Need Tree is a picturebook about encouraging children to be honest about their needs, and to respect and clearly state their own boundaries.
Hopefully children and adults will find it lighthearted and fun!
The technique is primarily acryla-gouache, with mixed media of pastels, pencil crayons and wax crayons on top.
